Will the Major Media Pay Attention to Allegations about President Obama’s Eligibility this Time?

PHOENIX – Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona has announced a major news conference in which he will address an investigation by his Cold Case Posse into concerns about President Barak Obama’s eligibility. The news conference is scheduled for today at 1 PM Mountain Standard time and will be live-streamed by WND .

This marks the first time an official law enforcement body has addressed numerous questions about Obama’s eligibility to hold the highest office in the land. Some of the issues being addressed today include his eligibility under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution, the image of his alleged birth certificate from Hawaii, and the president’s use of a Connecticut social security number.

Numerous national media organizations are indicating their plans to attend the press conference, with reporters expected from Reuters, the Associated Press, NBC, CBS, and ABC affiliates, and the Washington Times. A number of statewide radio networks and other independent news channels will be in attendance as well.

Though details will not be released until this afternoon, Apraio says the findings “could be a shock.”

The controversial sherriff’s Cold Case Posse organized the five-member law enforcement posse in 2011 with the task of investigating allegations by a local Tea Party group that the president’s birth certificate might be a forgery. The White House released that document to the public on April 27 last year, but questions have arisen as to its authenticity.

Members of the posse include two retired attorneys with law enforcement experience and three former law enforcement officers. Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, requires a president to be a natural-born citizen and the group is examining whether Obama meets that standard.

WND has reported in the past that a private investigation found that the social security number being used by Obama does not pass a check with E-Verify. That electronic system was created by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to verify whether or not someone is authorized to work legally in the country.

WND CEO and Editor Joseph Farah has also sought to raise the public’s awareness of the issues in question. He wrote recently:

“At its core, it’s really quite simple: Does Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution dealing with who can serve as president of the United States simply mean that any citizen age 35 or older is eligible? If so, why did the Founders use a different term altogether – ‘natural born citizen’? What is a ‘natural born citizen’? Is it anyone born in the United States? If so, why have candidates born outside the United States been deemed eligible? Do we owe it to America’s future to go back in history to determine what that term actually means?

“Until now, as hard as it may be to believe, no official vetting of Obama’s credentials has been done—not by the 50 secretaries of state who oversee elections, not by the Federal Elections Commission that administers the nation’s elections laws, not by the Electoral College, not by any judge in America, not by Congress, not by anyone.”

In the past these allegations have been largely ignored or summarily dismissed by the national media. Sherriff Arpaio hopes this report will either clear the president of these allegations or force consideration of them by the courts.
