The Right Attitude

“I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.”
– 2 Corinthians 12:1
The Apostle Paul had one of the most difficult lives after Jesus returned to heaven. He was whipped, beaten, and showered with stones on multiple occasions. He was constantly on the move, constantly in danger from the Jews as well as the Romans. No matter where he turned, he was cold, tired, hungry, and alone. But never once in any of that did he turn from his faith in God. In fact, in spite of his continued struggles, not only did his faith remain rock solid but he continued praising God.
In the midst of strife, loss, and pain, Paul chose not to focus on all the negative aspects of his life. Instead, he remained centered with a right attitude.
Having the right attitude will not necessarily change the outcome. Paul still suffered; he was still persecuted and he was still put to death for his faith in Jesus Christ. His attitude did not change that. What his attitude affected was his outlook on life. When he was at the lowest of the low and felt that everyone had abandoned him, he was able to continue his path because he had the right attitude.
We are a lot like Paul. Every day we will face some sort of situation where we have to make a choice regarding our attitude. We can choose the right attitude and control the situation through perseverance in God; or, we can choose the wrong attitude and let the situation control us.
Which attitude will you choose?
