Does a mobile phone have gold inside of it? If so how much?

August 26, 2013

Does a mobile phone have gold inside of it? If so how much? Is it worth doing? I’m going to try and answer some of these questions, using jewelry tools and a gold and silver acid testing kit.

  3. He was testing the gold 100% wrong. This is how its done at a pawn or jewelry shop: 1) Magnet test to see if it is plated 2) If not magnetic they then file away a little of the surface to see if its plated to something non-magnetic 3) Rub item on black stone of gold test kit so that you have a fine line of what looks like dust 4) Now place a small drop of acid on the fine line you made and make sure you test the line with the right carat acid. 5) Deactivate acids and wash up with water mixed with baking soda.
