6 All-Natural Remedies To Cool Hot Flashes

hot flashes all natural remediesHot flashes are the most common challenge that menopausal women face. It is important to use safe natural remedies to relieve them without relying on pharmaceuticals as drugs often possess serious side effects. Take control of your health and get rid of hot flashes by using these simple, inexpensive, home remedies.

1. Healthy Diet.

A high fiber diet is essential for hormone balance and elimination of excess hormones. There is a common misconception that getting lots of fiber is difficult. It does not need to be. Include lots of fresh raw fruits and vegetables in your diet. They contain healthy fiber. If possible, purchase organic, locally grown fruits and vegetables in season, as they are not treated with chemicals which exacerbate hot flashes and night sweats.

Obtain most of your protein from plants. Dried beans, peas, lentils and soybeans are great sources of fiber and protein. They are low in fat as well. If you do eat meat, only eat small quantities. Meat and animal products from wild, grass-fed, organic, free-range animals are best so that you can avoid consuming hormones which are often fed to animals. These hormones from meat and dairy products can disrupt your hormone balance and cause hot flashes.

Include seaweeds in your diet. They prevent hot flashes and help to restore endocrine balance. If you live near the sea, learn which ones are safe to eat and harvest your own from clean waters.

Use cold pressed olive or canola oil in small amounts. Limit your consumption of dairy foods and highly processed foods.

2. Phytoestrogens.

Phytoestrogens are natural chemicals that are found in certain plants. They restore hormone balance. Phytoestrogens block unhealthy forms of human estrogen from lodging in the body.

Herbs, sorrel, black cohosh, turmeric, thyme, wild yam, and red clover contain concentrated amounts of phytoestrogens. They are all useful in the treatment of hot flashes. Harvest or grow your own herbs or purchase remedies at an herb shop or through Internet companies which specialize in natural remedies.

3. Sage.

One of the best remedies for hot flashes, flushes, and night sweats is sage. You can make a tea by adding four teaspoonful of dried sage leaf to a quart of water. Drink the tea, chilled, throughout the day. Within two weeks you will likely see a great reduction in the frequency and intensity of hot flashes. In addition, sage is a great herb for reducing perspiration, which is ideal for sufferers of night sweats. Sage tea is not very tasty, so you may want to opt for a supplement.

4. Soy.

Eating a diet rich in soybeans and soy products is considered invaluable by many mainstream and natural heath care experts for the treatment and prevention of hot flashes. Soy has been extensively studied. In addition to relieving hot flashes, soy helps protect the body from heart disease and some cancers.  Many people from Eastern societies consume large amounts of soy. Health experts believe that consuming soy is one of the reasons why women from eastern countries suffer from fewer hot flashes than women from western societies.

Edamame, soy nuts, tempeh, miso, soy milk, and tofu contain good quality soy. Other soy products, such as imitation burgers, chicken patties and soy supplements do not offer the same benefits. If you have the space, try growing your own soybeans.

5. Flax.

Include flax seed and oil in your diet regularly. Multiple studies indicate that flax helps to reduce hot flashes and offers many other benefits to women.

Store flax oil and seeds in the refrigerator as they have a short shelf life. Do not buy flax meal. Grind your own flax seeds daily in a coffee grinder reserved for herbs and spices.

Flax loses its health giving properties when cooked. Use flax oil in salad dressing or add to a smoothie. Seeds may be added to smoothies or mixed in with yogurt or breakfast cereals.

I recommend that women consume one teaspoonful of flax oil each day in addition to two tablespoonfuls of flax seed.

6. Vitamin E.

Researchers have discovered that taking 800 IU of natural vitamin E with mixed tocopherols daily relieves night sweats and hot flashes. Once the symptoms improve, reduce the amount of vitamin E to 400 IU daily. In addition to relieving hot flashes, vitamin E protects the heart.

Use natural remedies to reduce hot flashes and night sweats. The interventions work best when used consistently. If you implement these strategies, you will soon be cool and comfortable once again.

Women have been able to manage hot flashes for ages without relying on high priced dangerous pharmaceuticals.
