Non-GMO Purple Tomatoes Fight Disease?

Indigo-Rose-6x9Mom always said “eat your vegetables” to stay healthy – and now we know she was more right than she realized.

A new wave of all-natural purple vegetables are the craze among organic and heirloom gardeners, and for a good reason: They’re loaded with disease-fighting antioxidants called “anthocyanins,” and they’re the subject of this week’s Off The Grid Radio.

Aaron Whaley, a farmer and seed expert, tells us about these “Indigo” vegetables, spotlighting the Indigo Rose tomato.

These non-GMO, open-pollinated tomatoes are purple on the outside, red on the inside and even more delicious than the tomatoes grandma grew. They feature the same type of antioxidants found in blueberries.
