Good nutrition is vital for survival and staying healthy, yet many preppers put their lives and their families’ lives in danger by neglecting it. Most survival food, including meals ready to eat (MRES), simply don’t contain the nutrients necessary to keep the human body healthy for a sustained period of time. In most cases, they are designed for short-term survival, not weeks, months, or years of nutrition. Although, for that matter, the standard American/Canadian

A nuclear warhead, packaged and delivered by North Korea, detonates miles above nowhere, Kansas. While the folks in the area shield their eyes from the blinding light and gust of wind, no one is harmed by the blast. However, there is another killer from inside the explosion that was released. The electromagnetic pulse shuts down every electrical component that was plugged into the power grid, most cars are stopped on the roads, radio stations broadcast nothing but static, and the U.S. is time-warped back to the Stone Age. Economic supply lines grind to a halt,

Mass shootings and explosions are happening with more and more frequency across the country, and the way that our government responds to them has always been less than ideal. Whether it involves fraudulent attempts to infringe upon second amendment rights, racial profiling, or other divisive tactics, it’s important to remain constantly vigilant about the steps that the government takes in the name of protecting our safety. Those who sacrifice liberty to ensure safety deserve neither, and it’s crucial that we are vocal about our resistance to the inflation of government power. There are some legitimate

For most of our nation’s history, and for thousands of years before that, people have consumed raw milk from their cows, goats, and other livestock. Today however, raw milk is almost unknown, as the vast majority of Americans drink only pasteurized milk, which has been heated to kill off harmful pathogens. When properly produced, handled,

This March, the South by Southwest Education Technology Conference in Austin, Texas unveiled an enormous database holding the personal information of millions of school-aged children currently enrolled in public schools across the country. The project, dubbed inBloom, already has the support of nine states, encompassing Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York and North Carolina, and others may soon follow suit. Funded by the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation, which was worth $36.4 billion dollars earlier this year, the database will enable the free sharing of public student data with private companies nationwide. What’s

It happens to all of us. You’re at a dinner party, a date, or somewhere else where gas is the last thing you need, and all of a sudden that bloated, “uh-oh” feeling occurs. Flatulence, also known as passing gas, is the state of having excess gas in the digestive tract. The result is built-up pressure that needs to be released, which can cause discomfort and potential embarrassment. Most of the time gas is a very normal and healthy process, but occasionally it can be a sign of an underlying problem. Excess Gas Everyone naturally

Living off the grid is a great choice that families across the world make day in and day out, but not everyone has the opportunity to move to a spacious plot of land and leave the city behind. For those who love the tenets of living off the grid and running self-sufficient households, there are a wide variety of strategies that can be employed in a crowded urban environment to start your home on this path. Don’t fool yourself— it is impossible to transform your city home into a self sufficient, green space overnight. It

It happens all the time: those cute little chicks suddenly become little monsters, crowing all day (and night!) and picking fights with each other, the hens, and your feet. Keeping more than one rooster in your flock while maintaining the peace is possible, but it is not always the best idea for all flocks. Like
