The United States military has essentially authorized itself increased authority over civil disturbances. Changes to a largely unknown piece of US Code entitled “Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies” was altered on May 20. The military now has the power to “police the streets” without consent by either state or local officials. The 2013 adjustment to the code was the first significant change to the statute in more than 200 years. An excerpt from the change to the Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies reads: “Federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary

Monsanto just wants to help poor people gain access to food, and all opponents to the GMO-infused crops are merely elitists. No, I have not been drinking while writing, nor do I think the statement is the least bit accurate; yet the sentiment is exactly what Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant wants the American people to believe. The mega-biotech company is apparently trying to turn the negative press coverage about their pesticide resistant crops into a new direction. During an interview with Bloomberg News, Hugh Grant states that those who loathe GMOs are simply not at

News reports make it look like the IRS is completely out of control. Worse, the agency is behaving much as it did during the Nixon Administration, when the president’s political opponents were deliberately singled out for audits. The Tea Party isn’t the only group on the IRS’s hit list. It now appears that the Internal Revenue Service went after Billy Graham, or rather two organizations founded by the famed evangelist, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the charity Samaritan’s Purse. This indicates that the IRS was targeting Christian groups and cultural conservatives, as well

A North Carolina teenager who walks around his neighborhood packing a rifle on his shoulder is making at least one non-gun owning resident very nervous. John Schultz, 19, is from a military family and carries his grandpa’s WWII 303 British Enfield to help protect the area. The Charlotte teenager also wears a bullet-proof vest, packs a knife in a holster, and carries some extra ammo in a vest pocket. While walking around the Walnut Creek neighborhood, the rifle-toting teenager also picks up trash and has spotted several Peeping Toms and would be robbers. When Schultz

America’s food supply is in danger, and not just from Monsanto and GMO crops. The declining number of farmers in the United States has paved the way for more imports of consumables from China. A recent congressional hearing about the increasing amount of food being shipped from China revealed that only 2 percent of such products actually undergo safety testing. Although there was rare bi-partisan support over the potential health risks posed by the lax oversight, the only action the governing body took was to plan another meeting on the matter later this year. Between

The ammo shortage in America appears to be getting far worse. A police department in at least one state put out an all-call to residents for bullets. Proctor, Minnesota Police Chief Walter Woberg was told that his officers would have to wait about eight months to fulfill an order of just 1,000 40-caliber rounds. Chief Woberg has sent letters to Minnesota Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuhar asking for some type of action to be taken to thwart the ongoing ammo shortage in the United States. As previously reported by Off The Grid News, the

The United States Department of Justice has taken a strong stand against homeschooling. Justice Department lawyers successfully argued for a court to overturn a grant of asylum for a German Christian family that wanted to homeschool. The case involves Uwe and Hannelore Romeike and their five children. The Romeikes are evangelical Christians who withdrew their children from schools in Baden-Wuttenberg and started to home school. They ran afoul of local authorities because homeschooling is illegal in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Romeikes moved to Tennessee and applied for political asylum in the U.S. so

AK-47s and AK gun kits will soon be made in America, courtesy of the tireless efforts of Resistance Arms. The new gun company has been wading through the countless governmental red tape and funding hurdles necessary to get off the ground. The small company comprised of like-minded Second Amendment supporters is very close to realizing their dream. The folks at Resistance Arms firmly believe that law-abiding Americans should have access to the same quality weapon which is now mainly only held in the hands of our enemies. The Resistance Arms team has more than two

Arizona volunteer militia members over the age of 45 can now serve, thanks in no small part to Governor Jan Brewer. The Republican leader once angered the far left last year when she signed a volunteer militia bill into law (Senate Bill 1495) which allowed for the creation of a volunteer state militia which operates entirely separate from the National Guard. Republican Representative Jack Harper authored a nearly identical Arizona volunteer militia bill and wholeheartedly praised Governor Brewer for her support of the senate bill. He stated: “I’m very excited that she signed it, of

The vulnerability of America’s infrastructure is often noted as a topic of concern for preppers, but the nation’s water system is rarely factored into such discussions. It is no longer safe to assume that the water flowing from our kitchen faucets is a pure and healthy liquid. The water delivery systems in the United States are deteriorating just as quickly as our bridges, roads, and power grid. The technology at water treatment plants has reportedly changed very little since the WWI era. Your local water plant likely does a good job destroying parasites and bacteria,
