Should Americans Get Even Dirtier?

Think back to when you were a kid. Can you remember any of your friends being deathly allergic to peanuts or sensitive to gluten and lactose?

There has definitely been a major rise in food allergies over the last decade or two. Children today seem unable to eat great swaths of food without getting sick or even dying. Many public schools have even banned peanuts and peanut butter from the premises because some kid’s throats swell up just from being near them.

Who’s Really to Blame For Skyrocketing Health Care Costs?

The Chief Medical Officer of the American Cancer Society is disputing the prevailing explanation for runaway health care costs. Dr. Otis Webb Brawley suggests insurance companies aren’t the only parties guilty of our current heath care cost debacle. When President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Americans were told the PPACA would

‘Tis the Season for the Flu

Unless and until you have experienced the flu, it is actually easy to minimize it. Think of how often you’ve heard someone say that they have or had the flu and thought he or she was exaggerating when using descriptions like, “it was agony,” “it was just horrific,” “it was the worst illness I have

Healthy Skin Without Harsh Chemicals

I once spent more than $60 on a tube of face wash. There, I admitted it – but I’ll also admit that now I spend less than a $5 to get the same results. I’m making my own stuff now, and surprisingly enough, it puts the junk I used to get from the store to

Easy Homemade Beauty Treatments

Exfoliation is not a primary preparedness worry, but I’m vain. I want to look good while I’m growing my own food, distilling my own water, and otherwise living off the land. To buy something from the beauty aisle would be cheating – but making my own stuff is fine. Body scrubs are one of the

How to Make Your Own Deodorant

Deodorant. It’s the one toiletry most of us won’t do without – after all, who wants to stink? Not even our ancestors put up with nasty body odor. Early commercial deodorants ate through clothes they were so strong, but people enthusiastically put them on to avoid smelling foul all day. Unfortunately, even modern deodorants still

DIY Hair Removal

Our ancestors were not hairy, unshaven beasts. The modern trend for smooth legs and shaved armpits dates back to the pre-Christian era, when hairlessness was a sign of socio-economic status. Wealthy types would use everything from pumice to tweezers to creams to scrape, pluck, or dissolve away unwanted hair from head to toe. Regional preferences

Too Much of a Good Thing: The Biology of Antibiotic Resistance

There is no disputing that antibiotics can be lifesavers. For those suffering from dangerous bacterial infections, taking these medicines may very well be necessary, and there may not be any good alternatives available in many cases. Any sane medical system will rely on the prudent use of antibiotics to help cure some infections, especially in

Big Pharma and the Drugging of the World: Following the Trail of the Many-Tentacled Octopus

It is no secret to anyone that large and powerful institutions have an influence on society and the course of events in general that is inimical to the workings of democracy. But in the past, undue influence by the largest special interests was not overwhelming enough to eliminate all opposition, and as a result, some

Why is There Arsenic in Our Chicken?

Why is There Arsenic in Our Chicken?

As a survivalist you already know that big government is only out for itself and the big businesses it serves – those being agribusiness and Big Pharma, of course. This is likely to be one of the many reasons why you have decided to rely on just God and yourself to feed and protect your
