Gun Vault Review

When my husband first asked me to purchase the Solutions from Science Drag and Draw Gun Vault, I was sure it was a gimmick and not worth the money. I mean, how they could offer this biometric equipment for $179.99 when similar units were selling for $300 and up everywhere else was beyond me. I was sure it would be cheap pot metal that would never recognize a fingerprint and barely hold one pistol.

Imagine my surprise when the unit actually arrived.  Measuring in at 7.5 x 10.5 inches, the sturdy construction with its foam-lined interior would protect any pistol or valuable stored in it. It will hold a small 9mm pistol or a .38 snub-nose with ease. It has a black, powder-coated finish.

The biometric technology that I was leery about works amazingly well—I don’t have a computer that is as well-programmed as this box! It has the ability to hold up to nine fingerprints and the unit recognizes them all! (We tried!)

Even if the batteries fail, there is a backup keyed entry into the box. It comes with a wire cable for securing it to a desk, a wall, inside a vehicle, or wherever you have a secured object to attach it to. Your guns are secured not only by the vault, but by the wide elastic strap that holds them down, so your weapons won’t move around or get scratched up in transport.

The instructions that came with the vault were easy to understand and implement. Programming the fingerprints just took a few seconds, and wiping the memory is easy if you need to start over from square one.

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced portable gun vault that will keep loaded weapons away from children but still grant quick and easy access, then you should give this unit a try. Even if you don’t have weapons, it’s still an excellent safe for storing those valuables that you may want to grab if a bug-out situation ever happens.
