The ammo shortage in America appears to be getting far worse. A police department in at least one state put out an all-call to residents for bullets. Proctor, Minnesota Police Chief Walter Woberg was told that his officers would have to wait about eight months to fulfill an order of just 1,000 40-caliber rounds. Chief Woberg has sent letters to Minnesota Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuhar asking for some type of action to be taken to thwart the ongoing ammo shortage in the United States. As previously reported by Off The Grid News, the

There are a lot of buzzwords about rounds that get passed around. For a new or casual gun owner, these can cause some confusion. As I sat down to write this, I made a list of bullet terms, and the list just seemed to go on and on. I will keep this list more basic and give descriptions of terms that most shooters are likely to see. FMJ FMJ is an acronym for “full metal jacket.” This term was popularized by the Stanley Kubrick film of the same name. It refers to the copper or

Congressman Timothy Huelscamp (R– KS) says that the Department of Homeland Security has consistently refused to answer questions from multiple members of Congress about its recent acquisition of weapons, assault vehicles, and over a billion rounds of ammunition. “I’ve got a list of various questions of agencies about multiple things. Far from being the most transparent administration in the world, they are the most closed and opaque,” said the congressman. “They refuse to let us know what is going on, so I don’t really have an answer for that. Multiple members of Congress are asking

The United States Armed Forces hold a special place in the collective heart of America. We’re a superpower, mainly because of our military might. We won the Cold War; we prevailed against a foe that for decades had more men, more tanks, and more weapons than we ever could, but we won because we fight smarter. Our military is peerless, and yet most people don’t realize how constrained it is. Many second- and third-world nations have seen coup d’états that were driven by military leaders; in those countries, he who controlled the guns, tanks, and

January 30, 2012 The government has declared it can lock anyone up forever or kill them without any proof or due process. DHS has placed an order for 450 million rounds of Hollow Point ammo. Obama can now declare martial law during peace time. I think that just about says it all. “We are Preparing

The price of ammunition is at an all-time high and continues to rise, but what are the catalysts for the rise? There are several “reasons” for the rise—some tangible, some not. Love him or hate him, the answer may be partially due to President Barack Obama. What’s that, you ask? How can one man have

Each passing day it becomes increasingly obvious that we have to protect our families in the event of an attack on U.S. soil. Wars are taking place all around us and we cannot leave ourselves vulnerable. I know that I am not alone when it comes to the desire of being prepared for such an

Ammunition is a very tricky thing when it comes to the shooting industry. There are so many questions you have to ask yourself when it comes to ammunition and this only becomes compounded if you are an inexperienced shooter. Does it matter if the grades of ammunition are different depending on what they are being

When preparing for a life off the grid, we tend to think in terms of the basic needs that will allow for a life of self-sufficiency without sacrificing quality. Within that mindset, a discussion often emerges that pits one person’s idea of sufficiency versus another’s notion of life in abundance, which is usually settled by a

I often hear people state that their preparation for disaster consists only of a few firearms and a stockpile of ammunition. They state, only half jokingly, that with those tools they can easily get anything else they need. Unfortunately, there are many people with that philosophy who aren’t joking at all. I call it the
