How To Protect Yourself When Riots Break Out

Civil unrest—civil disorder, widespread violence, and anger provoked by popular anger and discontent—could be far more likely in the United States in the near future than you might think. The classic recipe for civil unrest is a large class of unemployed or underemployed people that believe that they have little hope and little to no future. Such people are bored, frustrated, and looking for somebody to blame their problems on. All that it takes to rouse such people to violence is a little demagoguery or rumormongering. The large, discontented class that fuels civil unrest is

Facebook Photo Prompts Warrantless Search In New Jersey

Proud New Jersey dad Shawn Moore had no idea sharing a photo on Facebook would result in a visit from Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). The Moore family was shocked when two case workers and four police officers showed up on their doorstep to inspect their home and gun safe. Moore was not home at the time, but arrived shortly later after receiving a frantic phone call from his wife. Moore’s attorney, Evan Nappen, a renowned Second Amendment litigator, was on speaker with his wife as the New Jersey DYFS workers attempted to enter

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Following a poll of its nearly one billion users, Facebook is introducing a number of new privacy controls today. The poll was a part of the social media giant’s efforts to address user concerns over who can see their personal information. According to the company, the new privacy controls simplify how Facebook’s members can quickly determine who can view the comments, photos, and other information about them that appears on different parts of the website. Social Media: A Valuable Tool For Preppers

Preparing for the time when society collapses is more than just a hobby for many people. Prepping is a way of life and a way to ensure survival when a natural disaster, economic collapse, or a pandemic strikes the nation and the world. Those who don’t prep have an idea of what preppers are like. They imagine us as isolated crazies living in the back woods and having no connection to the outside world. In reality, of course, most preppers realize the value of working together to get ready for the ultimate collapse. In the

Facebook Privacy and You: An In-Depth Look

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal turned the spotlight on Facebook apps and how they can compromise your personal security. In truth, all social media channels have privacy issues, but with almost a billion users, Facebook is far and away the most obvious place to look for privacy concern issues. The Journal examined one hundred of Facebook’s most popular apps and found some look for everything from your current city location to email address to, believe it or not, sexual preference. What many Facebook users do not realize is that these apps often

A military review board recommended this past Thursday that Stein be discharged for using his site to call Obama “the domestic enemy”. The Marine’s page also displayed a “Jackass” movie poster with Obama’s face and comments he posted in which he said he would not follow some orders from

iPhone Apps and our Fascination with Other People’s Information

Highlight is part of an emerging trend of apps for smartphones that reveals information you have chosen with anyone else with the same app that is in close proximity to you. Other so called social apps include Sonar, Glancee, Kismet, and Banjo. Anyone who uses Facebook knows some people share way too much personal information that they mistakenly think is limited to their chosen friends.
