The vulnerability of America’s infrastructure is often noted as a topic of concern for preppers, but the nation’s water system is rarely factored into such discussions. It is no longer safe to assume that the water flowing from our kitchen faucets is a pure and healthy liquid. The water delivery systems in the United States are deteriorating just as quickly as our bridges, roads, and power grid. The technology at water treatment plants has reportedly changed very little since the WWI era. Your local water plant likely does a good job destroying parasites and bacteria,

A man from Saudi Arabia was carrying a pressure cooker when reportedly arrested at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport on May 11. Hussain Al Kwawahir flew from his home country and through Amsterdam before reaching the United States. Kwawahir supposedly told law enforcement officials that he was in America to visit a nephew attending the University of Toledo. Hussain Al Kwawahir was scheduled to appear in federal court on charges related to allegedly lying to a Customs and Border Protection agent. The Saudi Arabian man allegedly told the agent that he had packed a pressure cooker

SPRING CITY, TN – A recent shooting at a nuclear power plant in Tennessee has renewed awareness of how little focus has been placed on ensuring that American nuclear power and chemical plants are safe from potential terrorist attacks. TVA spokesperson Jim Hopson confirmed that a security officer patrolling TVA Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in Spring City recently was involved in a shootout with a suspect last Sunday around 2:00 a.m. The shooting occurred just a quarter mile from the reactor’s protected area. The shooter approached the plant by boat and walked on to the

NASHVILLE, TN – Southern Baptist chaplains are reporting that SBC.net, the official web site of the Southern Baptist Convention has been blocked at military installations across the nation. The Southern Baptist Convention is the nation’s largest Protestant denomination and is known for its support of the pro-life movement and its strong belief in traditional marriage. The censorship became public after an Army officer attempted to log onto the denomination’s website but instead received a warning message. “The site you have requested has been blocked by Team CONUS (C-TNOSC/RCERT-CONUS) due to hostile content,” the message read.

Political correctness reared its ugly head during the Boston Marathon bombings investigation. The description of suspects in any crime should not be impacted by the illogical desire to avoid offending a particular segment of society. Statements by CNN’s Jon Tobin and President Barack Obama during the search for the terrorism suspects illustrate how deeply the role of political correctness plays in media coverage. The public trust is broken when simply reporting the facts in the case are deemed too difficult for citizens to understand and digest in a responsible manner. Americans from across the country

The Boston Marathon bombing suspects are no longer a threat. One is dead and the other is inside the same hospital as some of the Boston Marathon victims. Like many journalists from across the country, I stayed up all night on Thursday listening to Boston scanner traffic and updating the events as they unfolded. While tapping away on my keyboard, there was little time to think about why the horrific act of terror was committed. In between keystrokes, I just sent prayers and good thoughts to the police, firefighters, and EMS staffers who were involved

Boston, MA—(OP-ED) At the finish line of the Boston Marathon, at a time when runners were completing a grueling 26 mile run and racing to the finish to the cheers of friends and family, as support personnel and bleachers of spectators were enthusiastically greeting each contestant with congratulations and applause, a coward (or cowards) of the lowest type detonated two bombs that had been hidden in undisclosed locations amongst the crowd. Three people died (including an eight-year-old child) and nearly 200 were injured. Lower extremity trauma was the most horrendous injury of all, with many requiring

Natural threats to our water supply—things like an imbalance of fresh and salt water, water waste, and pollution- may not be the only things we have to worry about. Terrorist organizations are constantly surveying the U.S. for weaknesses. Every facet of our lives comes under intense scrutiny, and each located weakness becomes a new target. One of the most vulnerable portions of our system is our water infrastructure. Largely stationary and unguarded, a wealth of opportunities exists for those looking to damage the system. Groups could easily dump toxins or viruses into the water or

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is working to ban defamation of Islam, especially speech that links Islam or Islamists to terrorism. The part of Obama’s speech before the UN where he said, “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam,” seems to be coming to fruition. It’s the rest of it that’s being ignored (“those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see when the image of Jesus Christ is desecrated, churches are destroyed, or the Holocaust is denied”), which includes the envoys this administration sends

DALLAS, TX – Brandon Raub, a 26-year-old former Marine, pro-liberty activist was ordered released from psychiatric commitment last week by Circuit Judge W. Allan Sharret. The judge ruled that a commitment order granted to federal authorities for arrest and detainment was invalid. Raub, a Virginia resident, was seized by Secret Service, FBI, and local authorities as the result of Facebook posts the agencies claimed were “terrorist in nature.” Raub was committed after a 15-minute evaluation at John Randolph Hospital by Dr. James A. Correll. As a result of that brief evaluation, Special Justice Walter Douglass
