Amazing Hot Pepper Production – Pruning and Overwintering is Paying Off

July 30, 2013

I grew some ultra hot peppers last year, Trinidad Scorpion and Super Datil. They produced very well, so I decided to prune them back and overwinter them in the greenhouse to see what they would do in the second year. Both plants were heavily loaded with peppers, so it was time to pick them for the freezer. The Super Datil had over 400 peppers on it. That is amazing. But these plants are fully mature, quite capable of producing massive amounts of peppers. I’ll have enough peppers to make hot pepper spray for several years. The bell peppers turned out pretty good too. 🙂
