Carlo Bellario faced up to 30 years in prison because he waved a pellet gun on a suburban street in New Jersey while filming a movie.

As Off The Grid News recently reported [2], Bellario never actually fired the CO2-powered airsoft pellet gun, but he spent three days in jail, and had to pay $10,000 in bail.

Bellario, 48, eventually took a plea deal in late July that will involve only probation. He wanted to fight the charge as a matter of principle, but chose not to take his chances after talking to his attorney, who warned him that probation is better than 30 years in prison.

He splits his time between being a comedian and an actor. He did not know it at the time, but the film company did not have a license to film the movie.

“I just want it to be over,” he told NJ.com. “I don’t agree with it, but you know what, I am out of jail, and I don’t ever have to see these people again.”

The actor and comedian initially was charged under New Jersey’s Graves Act, which makes it a crime to possess any projectile weapon, including BB and pellet [2] guns, without a special permit.

His plea involved pleading guilty to a lesser charge of creating false public alarm.
