About Those Old Wives Tales …

Being out in the cold can contribute to getting more colds, and it may be purely a temperature issue. An inventor years ago wanted to patent a simple swimmers nose clip to prevent up to 80 percent of the colds we normally get. His premise is that if you feel a cold coming on, just put on the nose clip for an hour and your nasal passages will heat up to body temperature and kill the virus.  He could not sell it because it would be considered a medical device which he did not have the money to test.

His idea does work most of the time.
