Cordage. I carry 100 feet of paracord in my briefcase and have a paracord bracelet on my wrist all the time. I can use it to help get food, build a shelter or just carry things.

I would add to the copies to carry: birth certificate, DD-214, title to vehicle, passport, proof of residency (water/tax bill), health records.
