Global Warming and Your Freedom

No one in America will have failed to note the abnormal warmth this year. Is this it? Have we now reached that hockey stick moment Al Gore cites from Michael Mann? Certainly, the mainstream media would like you to believe so. To wit: Columnist Eugene Robinson stated that, after the recent heat wave in the US only, the only people who disbelieve in Gorian warming must be “delusional,” while the director of our government’s National Climatic Data Center called it “climate on steroids.” The Environmental Defense Fund told its supporters in an email, “This is what climate change looks like.” And what in tarnation does global warming have to do with my freedom?

Plenty.

First, let’s examine the threat to you and your family’s freedom. I would like to examine the science behind the fraud of anthropogenic global warming, but there’s not enough space to do so here. Suffice it to say, the continental U.S. comprises a piddly 2% of all land mass, and everywhere else in 2012—with the exception of a region up around Svalbard and Murmansk, Russia—has seen cooler than normal temperatures, including Scandinavia (which had its coolest spring on record); the south island of New Zealand (where Christchurch had its coldest temperature in 130 years); Germany (which had its coolest spring in 20 years); South Africa (which reported snow and many deaths from the cold), to Argentina (which just called for an agricultural state of emergency due to abnormally low temperatures). See https://globalfreeze.wordpress.com/ [1] for some up-to-the-minute details. The reality? Worldwide temperatures this year have been below average, as seen below: (chart courtesy of https://policlimate.com/climate/ncep_cfsr_t2m_ytd_anom.png [2])

Even more profoundly, temperatures have been dropping worldwide since 1998, as well as over the past three years. (Chart courtesy of https://policlimate.com/climate/ncep_cfsr_t2m_ytd_anom.png [2]).

Oh yes…. did I mention 25 states set record LOWS in early July? $100 dollars to any lamestream reporter who printed that!

The moral is: Don’t mistake weather (local, shorter term) with climate (long term). Also, despite what some of the anthropocentric left thinks, the United States is not the center of the world. And ignore non-scientist, lamestream reporters who call skeptics “delusional.” [3] Ad hominem attacks are not the foundation of science.

With that brief digression, let’s return to the threat to your freedom. As Blaise Pascal once noted, once science is divorced from ethics, scientists will use their skills to pursue power, not truth. Similarly, anticipating ClimateGate, Soren Kierkegaard noted over 100 years ago that “in the end, all corruption will come about as a consequence of the natural sciences.” We are there now.

What is the political impetus behind the theory of global warming? As a matter of fact, it is the very same impetus that was behind the global cooling scare of the 1970s. The 1974 Club of Rome report titled, Mankind at the Turning Point stated, “The real enemy then, is humanity itself.” Their solution was simple— engineer a massive reduction in population and utterly change the socio-economic system through centralized planning via total government control. Leaving aside for the moment the question Roman satirist Juvenal asked, “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?” (Who will watch the guards?), as one example, you may recall then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s statement “We have so much room for improvement,” she said Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory … of how we are taking responsibility” (italics mine).

Another politically correct writer, Robert Zubrin observed, to the warmers, “… each new life is unwelcome, each unregulated thought or act is menace, every person is fundamentally the enemy of every other person, and each race or nation is the enemy of every other race or nation.” Perhaps it is put most clearly by the World Wildlife Fund Living Planet Report of 2012, which Lewis Page summarizes in the May 16, 2012 edition of the Register that “economic growth should be abandoned, (and) citizens of the world’s wealthy nations should prepare for poverty.” Of course, as we have seen in every other socialist experiment, from Robespierre to Nancy Pelosi exempting her Congress and her unions from Obamacare, that rule will not apply to them. Well George Orwell did state that in the socialist workers’ paradise, “We’ll all be equal— only some of us will be ‘more equal’ than the others.” And one needn’t do more to prove this than go to Google and key in movie director “James Cameron mansion,” “John Travolta mansion” (this famed global warming supporter has his own personal airport with five airplanes he uses, or “Michael Moore mansion.” Even better, examine Al Gore’s electrical usage [4], reported as of March, 2010, by Univ. of Michigan’s Dr. Mark J. Perry.

Further corroboration needed?

John Holdren, one of Obama’s science czars, was one of the most prominent global cooling alarmists of the 1970s. He is still singing the same misanthropic tune, only he has changed from global cooler to warmer. In one of its 1970 issues, Life Magazine wrote that “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support… the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution… by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….” This is the same Holdren who stated in 1973 that the goal must be to “de-develop the United States” (quoted from Family Security Matters, 6/28/2011) and  in 2010 actually stated that trees and other natural objects should be able to sue in court. (Yes, really.) Of course, during his global cooling phase, Holdren advised “razing cities to the ground, blowing up dams and switching off the greenhouse gas emissions machine” and that “a massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States.” Apparently, Mr. Holdren didn’t note that, if they do this, they might want to start with the Hollywood Learjet liberals and on leftist Martha’s Vineyard. And no word from Janet Napolitano if he —along with Bill Ayers—might be investigated, though I would assume not, since he is one of Obama’s czars. The goal is, as outlined in The Atlantic’s Dec. 2010 article “Dirty Coal, Clean Future,” that the US eliminate 96% of its emissions by 2050—that is, get to the same rate of emissions as Kenya. No doubt our poverty level will be at their level too. Cutting emissions, we can all agree, is a good thing. But that isn’t the real goal. The truth is that the politically correct types hate humanity (themselves excepted, of course!).

Evidence?

Earth First co-founder Dave Foreman [6] “My three main goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with its full complement of species, returning throughout the world.”

World famous explorer Jacques Cousteau [7] “In order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 people per day.”

The husband of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip [8]  “If I were reincarnated I would wish to be returned to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.”

The first executive director of the Sierra Club, David Brower [9]  “Childbearing [should be] a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license … All potential parents [should be] required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing.”

New World Order architect David Rockefeller [10] “The negative impact of population growth on all of our planetary ecosystems is becoming appallingly evident.”

James Lovelock, the creator of the Gaia hypothesis, told the Guardian that “democracy must be put on hold” to combat global warming and that “a few people with authority” should be allowed to run the planet because people were too stupid to be allowed to steer their own destinies.

Mikhail Gorbachev [11] “We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90% and there aren’t enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage.”

But none of the above beats Finnish writer Pentti Linkola, an uber-greenie, who wants to reduce Earth’s population to 500 million and abandon modern technology (presumably he is getting his message out via smoke signals). Writes Linkola: “What to do, when a ship carrying a hundred passengers suddenly capsizes and there is only one lifeboat? When the lifeboat is full, those who hate life will try to load it with more people and sink the lot. Those who love and respect life will take the ship’s axe and sever the extra hands that cling to the sides.”

And of course, America is the core of the problem: “The United States symbolises the worst ideologies in the world: growth and freedom.” Linkola concludes by writing:

Any dictatorship would be better than modern democracy. There cannot be so incompetent a dictator that he would show more stupidity than a majority of the people. The best dictatorship would be one where lots of heads would roll and where government would prevent any economical growth. We will have to learn from the history of revolutionary movements—the national socialists, the Finnish Stalinists, from the many stages of the Russian revolution, from the methods of the Red Brigades—and forget our narcissistic selves. A fundamental, devastating error is to set up a political system based on desire. Society and life have been organized on the basis of what an individual wants, not on what is good for him or her…. Just as only one out of 100,000 has the talent to be an engineer or an acrobat, only a few are those truly capable of managing the matters of a nation or mankind as a whole. In this time and this part of the World we are heedlessly hanging on democracy and the parliamentary system, even though these are the most mindless and desperate experiments of mankind. In democratic countries the destruction of nature and sum of ecological disasters has accumulated most. Our only hope lies in strong central government and uncompromising control of the individual citizen.”

Linkola has also publicly called for climate change deniers be “re-educated” in eco-gulags and that the vast majority of humans be killed, with the rest enslaved and controlled by a green police state, people forcibly sterilized, cars confiscated, and travel restricted to members of the elite.  A fellow Finnish environmentalist writer, Martin Kreiggeist, hails Linkola’s call for eco-gulags and oppression as “a solution,” calling for people to “take up the axes” in pursuit of killing off the third world. Kreiggeist wants fellow eco-fascists to “act on” Linkola’s call for mass murder in order to solve overpopulation.

At least the World Wildlife Federation isn’t as bad as Linkola, where they just call for a return to world-wide poverty to solve the global warming problem. [12]

And yes—this does, in fact, sound similar to Hitler’s “Final Solution” to me too. No word yet from the warmers if we humans are to be turned into Solyent Green as part of the “remedy.”

There is no doubt clean energy is a desirable thing, and we should be developing—via the free market—solutions that will allow technologies to grow. We can agree that smog or ozone alerts are not good. The issue is, is global warming real, or is it just the thin edge of the wedge—a wedge that will be driven between you and your family’s freedom. And how do we get to clean energy in a way that is consistent with freedom and the welfare of other humans?

It’s obvious that creativity if part of our nature. But true creativity produces best within the confines of freedom, not through the unfettered and rampant threat of death and destruction by dictators. Freedom has produced more advancement than any other system, and that advancement has come through ordinary citizens like you and me. Hold fast to freedom. Fight for it.

Your life depends on it.
