We live in during frustrating times. Simply turning on the evening news paints a picture of despair, frustration, and loneliness. Rarely do we see anything positive on the news and when we do, it is often overshadowed by the negativity. Even the weather reports can be dismal as we hear story after story of unusual weather patterns that are becoming more and more unpredictable.
In our frustration, we cry out to God to fix our world – to step in and restore hope, balance, and peace.
Some accuse God of being silent. They argue if He really cared about His children, He would have stepped in long ago instead of leaving us to fend for ourselves. Others say God is just sitting back, watching us self destruct. I would argue something different. I would challenge each and every one of us to understand that God is neither being silent, nor sitting back; not only did He offer us the greatest weapon, He regularly resupplies us with individuals to battle the frustrations of the world.
We cry out to God to change the world, to fix society. He reminds us we are here to do it.
God has called each and every one of His children to live in the world but not be of the world. He has gifted us with the ultimate sacrifice – His son. When we put our faith in Him, that gift, that sacrifice, guides our lives and puts us in a position to live differently and serve those around us.
God does not need to step in now because He already has. He gave His son and equipped us with the ability to change the world around us through service and love.
