Thomson, IL ~ Cafe welcomes first guests while enjoying the company of their neighbors. Right down the street from the brand new Heirloom Cafe [1], a federal prison sits vacant. The residents of Thomson, IL have waited over a decade for someone to make a decision on the fate of this $140 million dollar dust collector. A modern day David vs. Goliath, opening the prison would create jobs for this small town of 600, but as always, the government drags their feet, while small businesses step up and take care of their own.
