Dog walking is racist at Washington D.C.’s Howard University. Furthermore, Howard students are now telling dog walkers to stay off campus.
Specifically, dog walkers report [1] that Howard students are harassing them on social media, The Guardian reveals. White people walking dogs on the campus’s lawn, or Upper Quadrangle, apparently angers some Howard students.
In addition, some students are complaining because affluent neighbors are walking dogs on campus as well. To elaborate further, Howard’s campus is in Washington’s gentrifying [2] Shaw neighborhood. Shaw is a historically black, working-class neighborhood that is being turned into housing for upper-class people.
Woke Students Call Dog Walkers Racist
Consequently, “Woke” college students are blaming dog walkers for economic forces beyond their control.
In detail, Howard University [3] is a private, historically black institution in our nation’s capital. Additionally, Howard University is an important center of African American culture. Notwithstanding, they named the university for a white man, Union Army General Oliver Chris Howard.
Howard was the University’s president and head of the Freedman’s Bureau, which helped ex-slaves after the Civil War.
Notable Howard graduates include U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D-California), author Toni Morrison, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, actor Anthony Anderson, radical Stokely Carmichael, Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland), U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, actor Ossie Davis, and former Governor Lawrence Douglas Wilder (D-Virginia).
Intellectuals Tell Us That Walking Dogs Is Racist
Amazingly, some intellectuals and media figures believe walking dogs is racist [1] on the campus. For instance, radio personality Charlemagne says, “Howard University is supposed to be a safe space for black people and we don’t need you colonizers infiltrating it.”

Why Is Dog Walking Racist?
So let’s get this straight: some woke intellectuals think that dog walking is racist because affluent whites who buy expensive inner-city apartments often own canines?
In particular, many blacks are angry because they can no longer afford homes in traditionally African-American neighborhoods. However, neither the woke students nor the intellectuals say how demonizing dog lovers will help poor black people afford homes.
