An Italian Study Raises Red Flags
For a while now, folks have wondered if the Covid vaccines might be tied to a rise in cancer. The debate’s been tough to settle, partly because in places like the U.K., health agencies have avoided sharing raw data comparing the vaccinated to the unvaccinated.
But in Italy, researchers dug deep into a huge population sample—and what they found has started turning heads.
A Big-Picture Look in Pescara
The study took place in the province of Pescara, tracking nearly 300,000 people from mid-2021 through the end of 2023. It was peer-reviewed and published in Experimental and Clinical Sciences Journal.
Here’s how the population broke down:
- About 16.6% stayed unvaccinated
- Roughly 83% got at least one dose
- More than 62% ended up with three or more shots
The researchers weren’t just interested in Covid outcomes. They looked at first hospitalizations for cancer as well as all-cause mortality to see if vaccination status had any lasting health impact.
The Main Findings
What stood out was a higher rate of cancer hospitalizations among the vaccinated.
- Unvaccinated: 0.85% had a first cancer admission
- Vaccinated: 1.15% had a first cancer admission
- That’s 3,124 cancer cases across the study window
The difference wasn’t just random noise—it was statistically significant. In fact, after adjustments, vaccination was linked with a 23% increase in overall cancer incidence within six months of the first dose.
Which Cancers Jumped the Most?
Looking closer at the six months following vaccination, certain cancers stood out:
- Colorectal cancer jumped 34%
- Breast cancer rose 54%
- Bladder cancer climbed 62%
Other cancers like ovarian, thyroid, and hematological (blood-related) also trended upward, though their sample sizes were too small to declare the results conclusive. Interestingly, lung cancer actually showed a slight decline, though it wasn’t statistically significant.
What About After Booster Doses?
The study didn’t stop with the first round of shots. Researchers also checked on people 180 days after their third dose. At that point, the overall cancer risk looked a little lower, though still higher than the unvaccinated baseline:
- All cancers: up 9% (significant, but smaller than the 23% spike after first dose)
- Breast cancer: up 36%
- Bladder cancer: up 43%
Again, some cancers—like ovarian—showed big jumps but didn’t reach statistical significance because of small sample sizes. The authors floated two possible explanations: maybe people predisposed to cancer already developed it after the first exposures, or maybe the timing of detection changed over longer follow-up.
Could There Be a Biological Link?
The Italian team focused on data, not mechanisms, but others have speculated on how this might work. Some theories include:
- Chronic inflammation sparked by spike protein expression
- Autoimmune activity that damages tissues and creates cancer-friendly environments
- mRNA-related glitches in protein synthesis, possibly creating rogue proteins
- DNA contamination in vaccine batches that might mess with tumor-suppressor genes
None of these ideas are proven, but they do offer possible explanations for why such a link could exist.
A Twist: Mortality Was Lower in the Vaccinated
Here’s where things get complicated. While cancer risk looked higher, overall mortality during the short-term study was actually lower in the vaccinated group. This could be explained by the fact that many of the vaccinated cancer patients hadn’t died yet during the time the study was ongoing.
Some have chalked this up to the so-called “healthy vaccine effect.” It is said that healthier and more health-conscious people are more likely to get vaccinated. I would think the opposite, but who knows, right? Ironically, it also means the cancer risk may be even greater than what the data in the new study showed.
Why This Matters
Cancer generally doesn’t usually appear overnight—it can take decades to develop. That’s why these Italian findings, covering just a two-and-a-half-year window, are an early warning rather than a final word. The potential “turbo-cancer’ signals are strong enough to raise concern, especially for breast, bladder, and colorectal cancers. However, the story is still unfolding… even without governmental transparency in most nations, including the U.S.
For now, the study highlights two key takeaways:

The Italian cohort study doesn’t prove that Covid shots caused cancer in all vaccinated patients, but it does show a clear statistical signal that can no longer be ignored. Trump should read the study.
