Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Calls President Obama “Thin Skinned”

PHOENIX – Arizona Governor Jan Brewer expressed disappointment concerning her meeting with President Obama at a Phoenix airport on Wednesday. In her words, the president proved “thin-skinned” in his remarks about her recent book Scorpions for Breakfast.

In an interview with KFYI radio, Governor Brewer said, “”He brought up my book. And he was a little tense. “I asked him if he read my book, ‘Scorpions for Breakfast,’ and he said he read the excerpt and he didn’t think that I was very cordial… He was somewhat thin-skinned, a little tense to say the least. I was trying to be very calm.”

The governor has been soundly criticized by Obama for her state’s controversial immigration bill passed last spring. Photographers captured the leaders in what appeared to be an intense conversation. Following their exchange, Brewer pointed her finger at the president just before he turned and walked away.

According to the governor she told the president that she would like the chance to talk about “the great Arizona and the things we have done here” when Obama suddenly brought up her book. In Scorpions for Breakfast, Brewer chronicles two meetings she had with President Obama. Writing of these meetings, she described Obama as attempting to lecture on immigration and being “condescending”.

Senator, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told Fox News on Thursday that the president’s interaction with Brewer is yet another example of the president’s “prickly personality.” McCain said, “Jan Brewer is very concerned about the security on our border. I think it’s a very legitimate concern.”

The White House released a statement on Thursday maintaining the President would gladly meet with Brewer again. Obama “did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in her book,” the statement added. “The president looks forward to continuing taking steps to help Arizona’s economy grow.”

Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media, and Cynical Politicos to Secure America’s Border has received polarizing reviews reflecting the deep divide in America over the issue of immigration reform.
