Oregon is now attempting to out-crazy California when it comes to gun control. Now, considering California for a minute, that is quite a statement to make. However, they may even pull it off. Not only are they considering a bill which will restrict ammo in such a way as to make guns not much more than expensive sticks, but they are also looking at dropping the voting age down to 16. The reason appears to be to allow anti-gun voters into the electorate. Sixteen-year-olds can already drive and pay taxes after all.
Gun Control Is The Real Reason Behind The Oregon Voting Age Measure
Soon, they may also be capable of voting in Oregon. Legislators are now considering an amendment to the Oregon Constitution that will reduce the voting age from 18 to 16. In the event that the bill passes, voters will decide on the proposition at the 2020 election. State Sen. Shemia Fagan, one of the bill’s sponsors, announced the measure on Monday.
“It’s time to lower the voting age in Oregon and give young people a chance to participate at the ballot about decisions that affect their homes, their clean air and clean water future, their schools, and as we’ve seen, their very lives,” Fagan stated during a press conference.
The bill’s sponsors say they want the amendment to eventually expand to national elections as well. Fagan used the example of the political activism of Parkland, Florida, students who pushed legislators to tighten gun control laws. All of their protesting followed on the heels of a gunman who killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School last February. All in all, it appears that the real reason for the legislation is to bolster progressive ranks, especially the anti-gun ranks.
Young Kids Are More Easily Duped By Gun Control Propaganda
As noted, we need to be clear about the risks that young people face. They face a greater risk while driving to school than they do of being in a school shooting. But anti-gun advocates do not want them to know that. Look, I have a 17-year-old son myself. He is certainly smart, and yeah, I think he will vote responsibly.
No, I do not say this because he is also against gun control. I mean it because he is smart and he’s ready to ask questions on issues that he is unfamiliar with until he understands them thoroughly. If he doesn’t, he also has a set of principles that help to steer him correctly. Some of his friends are not like this at all. And, many kids in his age group have no real interest in the topic. More to the point, they easily buy into what their teachers say to them. They lack the real-world experience to comprehend the bias and indoctrination for what it is and therefore they swallow it hook, line, and sinker.
We Need To Instruct Our Children To Think Critically About Gun Control Activism
Furthermore, the big problem is that, as parents, we tell our children to listen to their teachers. As perceived authorities, at least in children’s minds, they could tell them anything and the children believe it to a degree. Particularly, we see this in the anti-gun rhetoric which is “substantiated” only by fake news in the Leftist media.
It is not really true that kids today have low IQs. It‘s really more about countering the indoctrination they receive from liberal teachers and getting them accurate information.
But information and knowledge do have limits. Our kids also need moral instruction that seems to be almost non-existent in much of the nation.
