From Religion to Relationship

In the world today, there are a variety of religions and so-called spiritual beliefs that seem to appease one’s inner desire to worship something.  As the result of the breath that we breathe belonging to the God of all creation, our human nature is not complete unless we exercise our right to worship.

In many foreign countries, people are forced to worship whatever god that country serves in fear of potential death unless they do.  Fortunately, in America, this is a not an issue because, we have the privilege  to worship what and who we please.  Internally, we possess the desire to worship because, this is a spiritual imprint that is born within us and just because we have it, does not mean that we should give God’s Glory or credit to a deity who does not desire this honor and glory because actually, nothing or no one else does!!!

Unfortunately, because there are still many people who either do not know the Love of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they will designate their God-given time to the worship of anything that makes them feel adequate and just because they do, does not mean that they are worshiping the right one.

It is a big step for most of us who know of God to take that step forward From Religion to Relationship with Our Heavenly Father because there, are many ‘pharisaical’ individuals who are still devoted to the study and practice of “the Laws of God” (religion) and what these laws represent rather then to, devoting their time to the study of getting to know Jesus Christ and the (relationship) that we all need to have with HIM that will lead us to the inheritance of Salvation and Eternal Life!

The term ‘religion’ is defined as meaning-a belief in anything; the belief in and worship of, a god or gods or, a set of beliefs concerning the origin of the universe.  It is commonly regarded as, consisting of a person’s relation to God or to gods or spirits. This term is used commonly and interchangeably with, ‘faith or belief system’ but, is more than a private belief and has a public aspect.

The term ‘relationship’ is defined as meaning-the condition or fact of being related, connected or associated to.  A connection by blood, marriage or kinship.  A particular type of connection existing between people related to each other or who have dealings with.  The state of being connected to or interconnected to.

In explanation, we can now see the difference in the meanings of these two terms.  Therefore, it is important that we know that, having Jesus Christ in our hearts is the difference between having a relationship with God of which is Life and a religion of which is not a relationship with God. Spiritually speaking, it is the Holy Spirit that comes alive within us that allows this close knit interaction with God…hearing HIM…knowing HIM (not just knowing of HIM), and…maturing in HIM.

Religion is only a band-aid an not spiritually beneficial or relevant to, reaping the  rewards of Eternal Life. We desperately need a relationship with God of which can only come through and by our acceptance of Jesus Christ into our lives as our personal Lord and Savior.  Then we must get to KNOW HIM!  We must not worship the creation but, the Creator!

Jesus Christ specifically tells us that,I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6-New Testament), and the reason why we have to go through HIM to get to God is because, HE IS GOD IN THE FLESH!!!  “1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2The same was in the beginning with God.  3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:1-5; New Testament).   “10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.(John 1:10-14; New Testament).

In closing, we are now aware of the spiritual fact that we must come From Religion to Relationship in order to, get to know the Love of God that we can only understand by getting to know Jesus Christ.

We must understand that the god that we should serve and worship is God Almighty via Jesus Christ! In desiring to learn about and know the Only True and Wise God, “27To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ fo ever. Amen.” (Romans 16:27-New Testament); “17Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory fo ever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17-New Testament), we must ask the Lord to reveal HIMSELF to us and what HE wants us to learn or possess that is written within the contents of HIS Holy Word. This effort can only be achieved by making a conscious effort to study and supplicate with HIM on a daily and consistent basis.  This should be the first thing that we do each day because, it can be done anytime, anywhere and any place and we should never quit!  Once HE lays down one foundation and area of spiritual Life in our hearts then, HE desires to reveal more of HIMSELF in either the same or different areas of our spiritual growth and maturity.

We are the ‘Temple of the Holy Spirit’.  Let us remember to be humble that is, seeing that we always need the God who created us and not just anyone or anything no matter how we think or feel!  This attitude will never fail us.  HE is ready and willing to bring us From Religion to Relationship with HIM.

God wants to spend all of eternity with us.  HE is always with us whether we are awake or asleep and moment-by-moment and guess what?  HE really loves it when we come to HIM!!!

In coming From Religion to Relationship, we are showing our Lord and Savior that, we desire to love HIM just as HE loves us.  We cannot go wrong when we do so!
