“Never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.”
— H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Recently I had the opportunity to try something completely new and I seized it with both hands. Of course, trying this meant I would be placing myself out there for the entire world to judge. That is a tough situation to be in; it is a risk to willingly allow people to judge you. I have planned and prepared, hoping to avoid as much negativity as possible; but, the reality is that there will still be individuals who may not like the chance I have taken. I have to be prepared for their reactions.
Unfortunately, of each of us, there are no guarantees in life. Every action we take, every decision we make, is a chance. In fact, we will often be in situations that require a great risk, sometimes physically and sometimes emotionally. We have to be prepared to accept any risks and challenges that may arise simply because we are living knowing there are no sure things in life.
Except one.
As Christians, we know that we are guaranteed one solid, completely reliable element in our lives. Jesus Christ remains a sure thing for each of us. No matter how many chances we take in our daily lives, we know we can always rely on Him to be there for us. He is a constant presence and support. He will never leave us and never forsake us. We know He is unwavering in His love for us. Because of Him, we also know our futures are guaranteed.
We cannot live without taking chances; it is a part of being human. But, while life may be unsure, Jesus is not.
