“Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building live of obedience into maturity.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:5 The Message
There is nothing more frustrating than coming to the end of a project, knowing you only have a few more steps, and realizing you do not have the correct tools. You are so excited to see the finished product, so anxious to finally have it complete and then realize you may have hit a wall that could stop you, or at the very least, slow you down considerably. Certainly, you can continue your task without the proper tools knowing it may take you twice as long. Or, you can leave the project, find the correct instruments and return.
Sometimes though, a third option presents itself. If we take long enough to slow down, we may realize we are able to complete the project with slightly different alterations relying only on the tools around us. The end product may not be exactly what we started out working towards; perhaps it is even better.
Living a life for God is often just like that. We approach a project with everything we believe we need to finish it. We work and work and just as we are nearing the end, we realize we may not have something we desperately need. But if we have a relationship with Christ, we are never truly without the tools we need. Our faith will guide us and lead us. Through Christ we are able to rely on the tools He provides and there is nothing that we cannot build.
