Joy to the world, the Lord is come. Let Earth receive her King!
Hymn – Joy to the World
Christmas is a time of the ultimate joy. We, bake delicious treats, we surround ourselves with music while we celebrate, and we share presents with friends and family. We open those new, shiny presents and enjoy them immensely. But, overtime, the joy begins to fade. Batteries die, toys get lost, and presents get broken. The new wears off and we are left with dreams of the next big thing.
The reality is that there is only one true thing that provides true joy and that is the love of Christ. The holiday season is a true reminder of that for it is the time we celebrate His birth. For a short time, Jesus lived as a helpless, innocent child. But this precious baby did more than bring joy to His parents, He offered himself for the rest of the world.
When we sing the words to ‘Joy to the World’, we are reminded that Jesus’ birth truly is a celebration of joy. Joy to his parents, joy to those He came in contact with, and joy to everyone else. As we celebrate Christmas, take time to get lost in the joy of the holiday.
