We as preppers often get way too focused on long term food storage, guns, ammo, and supplies as a way to prepare for disaster situations. And although these are great supplies to have, people often focus their time and energy on hoarding massive amounts of gear and supplies rather than practicing self-reliance. In reality having a garden and storing seeds is far more beneficial for your survival than a box of ammo. You can literally feed an entire community with seeds from your garden. Even a small urban homestead or suburban acre of land can produce tremendous food. Having seeds to spare and trade with the community are key to keeping your community thriving during situations where survival may come into play. So, take a break from the beans, bullets and band-aids and get yourself a small garden and practice!
