“I was protecting my property,” Stahl said in an interview with TheBlaze Thursday afternoon. “I felt my emotion was like a momma bear protecting her babies.”
Stahl was at a friend’s house when she received the call from her husband that the utility workers had arrived. She was home within 15 minutes and saw they were at a neighbor’s house. Her neighbors were not home, but they had signs stating they did not permit the new meter to be installed.
Stahl said she waited on her porch for the workers to arrive at her house. When they did, she refused them access to her backyard through her locked gate. The police — including the police supervisor, a sergeant — were called. Stahl said the sergeant explained the workers had authorization to access the meter, but Stahl stood her ground saying she didn’t approve it. The sergeant continued to try and convince Stahl to comply and said if she didn’t, he’d arrest her.
“The city has always had and maintains the right to access our equipment, and today we were simply exercising that right,” City Manager Doug Kreiger told the Chicago Tribune, which reported Wednesday’s events.
The lock on Stahl’s fence was cut, and when Stahl wouldn’t step away from the meter, she was lead away by an officer, cuffed and waited for a marked squad car to arrive to take her to the department. When asked why she was being arrested, she was told it was for interfering with a police officer.

She’s an idiot. She doesn’t own her utilities and therefore can’t complain when the city chooses to do something with them. If she wants total control of her water usage she should drink creekwater or rainwater.
I bet she never read her service contract.
While she may oppose the installation of a so-called smart meter, she cannot deny the utility access to their equipment. her choices apparently are either to disconnect from the grid or accept the meter in that town. That said, the meters radio frequency does interfere with some wirel;ess security equipment creating a choice between having lights or a security system that warns of intruders. Considering she lives in Illinois, that is a tough choice to make. Frankly, The results are still not in concerning the health issues but at some cost to her she can have her electric service relocated on her property as far away from the home as possible to mitigate her concerns to some extent.
Yes, she can pay to have the meter relocated – the prices quotes here are from $5000 to 8000 for the
relocation. Since the meters broadcast their radiation 90 feet in all directions, such a move would only work on a large lot or acreage. There are also the receivers on the telephone poles plus the tower in each neighborhood for gathering the information and sending to the head office – all broadcasting radiation everywhere. If you live in an apartment building there could be 20 – 40 meters on the wall adjoining your bedroom or living room. the cost of shielding is astronomical with a woman having paid 60,000 to totally shield her home from cel phone towers and smart meters.

been a number of fires and damaged electrical devices after the installation..
Since WHO has stated that this type of radiation could be carcinogenic I have to wonder why we are allowing ourselves to be bathed in it 24/7 from smart meters, cel phones, wifi, burglar alarms, garage door openers, and on and on……
You are forced to replace a perfectly good meter and then are charged for the new one, but it is not yours as they don’t leave the old one. I got a notice about how the meter (electrical) would benefit me. Of the 10 items only 2 realy did help me, the rest helped the power company witih no bemefit to me. The remote reading which should reduce the cost was one and I think that it helped the power company more than me.
When they offered me a ‘free’ thermostat (that they could control remotely) I said ‘no thanks’
Although it is crazy they arrested this woman….I am more concerned with the other woman who was arrested for Audio and Video taping the Police!!! What on earth is this world coming to. You are not allowed to document what is happening in public view..really???
