Fishing Russians and Roller Derbies

Where can you go to get a dose of down-home country fellowship, including old-time gospel singing, interesting guests, advice on gardening, and fishing stories from the local bait and tackle shop owner? You might think that brand of Americana is something of the past, but it’s not. The Heirloom Café presents its first online episode of the Old Time Heirloom Hour show, and although modern technology brings it right to your fingertips and your computer screen, it’s reminiscent of all those classic radio shows of yesteryear.

This week join hosts Bob Whitten and Bill Heid, along with their very special lineup of local townsfolk, including Todd from Todd’s Bait Shop, the Derby Divas as they talk about the not-quite so extinct sport of roller derby, and our very own senior botanist Nick Huizenga as he discusses the art of melon propagation and the fall Melon Fest coming to the Heirloom Market next week, September 22.

All this, and some very talented singers as well! Take some time out and come join us for the Old Time Heirloom Hour!
