Resisting “Dark Forces” With The Faith That Overcomes the World!

Resisting “Dark Forces” With The Faith That Overcomes the World!

We’re Already at War

Christians don’t have to wait for a new Anti-Christ announcement or TV evangelist heralding a new spiritual war… we’re already in it and we’ve been in it for a long, long time. The forces of humanism and darkness continue to advance, sometimes aggressively, sometimes subtly, aiming not just to marginalize Christianity but to erase it entirely from public life.

Again, this is not a distant concern; it’s a very clear and very present danger. The battle lines are clear for those with eyes to see and ears to hear, and there is no neutral ground. Each believer must come to grips with this reality: we are in a fight for the future of the faith.

This battle has personal implications for each of us. Understanding where we stand and in whom we place our trust is more crucial than ever.

Faith That Stands or Flickers

In Matthew 6:25-30, Jesus urges His followers not to be anxious, reminding them of the Father’s care even for the birds and the flowers. But what’s really interesting here is His gentle rebuke: “O ye of little faith.”

What am I saying? At the heart of this battle is faith… not just belief in God’s existence, but a living, active, unwavering trust in His Word.

In Matthew 6:25-30, Jesus urges His followers not to be anxious, reminding them of the Father’s care even for the birds and the flowers. But what strikes me most here is His gentle rebuke: “O ye of little faith.”

The Greek word for “little faith” is oligopistos—a blend of “oligo,” meaning little or brief, and “pistos,” meaning faith. The Lord is likening their faith to light that flickers like a candle flickers when the wax is used up, providing light for a moment, then dims or goes out.

It starts strong and bright, but doesn’t endure. It is “almost faith,” the kind that makes a profession but never takes risks that true faith requires.

A Personal Reckoning

I recently faced my own rough patch with some heavy-duty discouragement. Sickness, the aches and pains of old age, financial setbacks, and dark spiritual opposition all seem to hit at once. I couldn’t see the tunnel, let alone a light at the end of it.

For days and days, I wondered how I was going to pay the bills. I began to feel abandoned. But the Holy Spirit reminded me… sharply but lovingly through Scripture… what I needed to hear. The Spirit reminded me that self-pity is deadly, a kind of cancer to the soul.

I was reminded by one of my mentors to turn to the word and found again that wonderful phrase: “O ye of little faith.” It’s a real dagger if you’re feeling sorry for yourself. Yep, Jesus used it on His disciples, not to condemn them necessarily, but to wake them up. He was calling them…and now calling me…to something more profound: To get my motor running again and head back out on the highway. Van Til used to say, “Just get in the game and let the chips fall where they may.”

Faith That Steps Out on the Ice

Genuine faith doesn’t just agree with truth intellectually. It always acts and bears fruit.

When I was a kid, my dad and I would go ice fishing on the backwaters of the Mississippi River. Great times that I remember well. Here’s the thing: There were days when I was hesitant about going out further on the ice. Sometimes it seemed too thin. There were times when I could actually see the river moving below me. Scary, right? But my dad had been on ice like that often and told me it would hold.

To say I believed my dad but refused to step out would not have been faith. Faith is stepping out, trusting the ice to hold because you believe the one who told you it will hold.

So it is with God’s Word. If we say we believe but never risk anything, never act as though His promises are true, we don’t truly believe. Flickering faith may warm our hearts briefly, but it won’t carry us through trials.

We really must have bold, unshakable faith that takes steps, makes stands, and counts the cost. And it’s just this faith that will enable and empower us to overcome the challenges that lie ahead for all of us in these uncertain times.

A Time of Separating

We are in a season where the Christians are being sifted. Not eaten by alligators… but nibbled to death by divisive ducks and the rearrangement of seemingly all categories of thought. You can believe anything and still be considered a Christian. Bring up orthodoxy and you’re labeled a wooden legalist. Anything goes in many churches today.

Now the truth is, there will be no sidelines in the war ahead. It sounds a bit dramatic, but it’s not an exaggeration.

Here in Illinois, the state has thrown a net over homeschooling. (The usual B.S.) In the name of helping kids, these highly educated idiots simply want to control them and their parents. Now, the brutal fact is, many public school kids in Illinois can’t read and write, and will graduate with the high honors of illiteracy.

But the bureaucrats don’t care. They ignore the facts. They, with great religious zeal, intend to separate the Christian kids from the faith of their parents. Nothing more. That’s the end game.

The government sees biblical parenting as well as traditional bible believing churches as disease-ridden. Sick and in need of a “government cure.” Their solution? Remove the kids and force them into public school illiteracy. Create a new state-sanctioned “salvation” for the kids. This is not theory… It’s ubiquitous. We need only look.

It doesn’t stop there. Nope. The same deep staters are still, behind the scenes, developing “control” programs for all of us, most of which are designed to promote and manage dissent among the citizenry… people like you and me… who won’t comply with the new moral order.

Important: Please know the enemy continues to plot, plan, and organize, despite Trump and some well-meaning folks in his administration. In reality, nothing has changed. We have, in the Lord’s good providence… bought a little time. What will you do with it? Will you be ready to step out?

From Almost Faith to Overcoming Faith

Look, many pastors and church elders are oblivious to all of this, to the technocratic dangers ahead, and to the dark intentions of our enemies.

But there are those standing firm in the faith, with eyes to see and ears to hear. The good news is that the Lord doesn’t require a majority… just faith among His people. The kind of faith that can’t be shaken. As Scripture declares, “This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

Today, rather than tossing you in jail like they did in the old Soviet Union or Red China… they ruin you online with social media. They destroy you digitally. While the illusion of free speech is maintained, the truth is… speak out and be destroyed.

That’s what they do. Ask Trump. Whether you like him or not… You must admit… millions of dollars of taxpayer money were spent to destroy him with lawfare and their social media minions.

Will You Stand When Your Time Comes?

Alright, let’s wrap up. The future will be divided along one line…faith or no faith. Nothing in between. No neutrality. Those with flickering, momentary faith will vanish from the playing field. Those with deep, living faith will remain and overcome.

Will we be among those who flicker and turn away? Or will we be those who stand with our brothers and sisters, even when it costs us everything? Jesus Himself said, “I was sick, I was in prison, and ye knew me not.”

As the conflict deepens (and it will), there’s a place for you. Even if you are not on the front lines, you can still be like Aaron and Hur… holding up the arms of those who are on the front lines. If you’ve got a good pastor, support him. If you’ve got a good Christian legislator, support him. All leaders on the front lines deserve not just our prayers, but also our time and money.

But one thing is sure: the battle will not go away. The only question is this… will you be part of the victory or part of the defeat?

The time to decide is now. Pray, “Lord, I believe. Help me with my unbelief.” Then step onto the ice. The Word of God will always hold.
