When someone buys a gun for home defense, they tend to fall into one of three categories. These categories are based on the amount of thought an individual puts into their planning. Although you may find yourself falling in between two categories, these distinctions should help you see any improvements you can make in your

The confusion surrounding Christ’s view of self-defense is almost unavoidable. Christ certainly does tell his followers to “turn the other cheek,” but at the same time, the same man told his disciples to buy swords (Luke 22:36). Is this a scriptural contradiction, coming from the same source? At first glance, it would appear to be; however, there are some biblical concepts that don’t always make it through the confusion caused by changing culture, languages, regimes, and histories over the course of the last 2,000 years. Needless to say, it does take some explaining to get

Why do many of us own guns? I own guns for several reasons: hunting, plinking, and competition are just a few, not to mention it’s my God-given right as an American. The most important reason, of course, is the defense of my family and myself. Owning a weapon is a right and a responsibility, and

America is very much a gun culture, and more weapons remain in civilian hands here than just about anywhere on earth, which is a good thing. We also have a fascination with pistols in this country, with the vast majority of the states having some sort of carry provisions in their laws allowing anyone not

Be prepared or be a victim—it’s that simple. Who hasn’t heard the horror stories or watched it played out on the evening news? It’s always stories of home invasions and whole families being tortured and killed. Although the statistics say you have more of a chance of being hit by a piece of falling debris

Want to avoid extraneous issues while you are away on vacation? Actually worried about a major event happening in your area that might incite a mob? Are home invasions increasing in your area? This technique may help reduce the risk associated with these concerns significantly. Window films are an excellent deterrent to even a driven and experienced robber or intruder, especially when used in conjunction with other methods of defense (or offense). Window film isn’t just a self-protection idea though; today’s films are much more useful than that. They aren’t a new idea or a

Defensive handgun use requires many variables to ensure success from point of aim to point of impact. Everything from handhold and trigger release to breathing and follow-up shots will have some impact on whether you hit your target with lethal force. The shooting stance, however, may help to put these other variables more naturally into

Sadly, the world is not a perfect place. Because of this fact, there are many people who do bad things to their neighbors. It is important to keep yourself well defended against such people. First, you must keep your loved ones and you safe from unfriendly visitors. Second, this is a check against malicious behavior. Thieves, murderers, and rapists must know that not everyone will submit and be a victim; someone will stand up. Thus, in society, responsible citizen defense is critical for maintaining order. This is one aspect that is at a disadvantage for

Many of you might be quite concerned about protecting the property that matters most to you: your home. Your home is where you keep your possessions, it is where your family sleeps, and it should always been seen as a safe place to go. Of course, if you live in an area with a high crime rate or you are simply worried about future events, then you will want to do your best to protect your home. Now, mainstream thought will say that you should just buy yourself a security system. However, if you are

Self sufficiency isn’t a singular action; rather, it’s the combination of many actions with good integration in planning and execution. Being self sufficient in a world whose socioeconomic and geo-political structures are under such immense pressure each day begs the question: what can you do to ensure a safe existence and still not have to
