“The way we live speaks more forcefully than all our words, thoughts, and good intentions,” (Ken Corson).
Our lifestyle is the outward expression of beliefs and morals we hold sacred. It is the physical manifestation of our faith and it is regularly observed by people around us. The second chapter of James addresses the idea of how important lifestyle. “What good is it,” James asks, “if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?” He continues in his letter by asking, “suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” (James 2: 14-17).
People watch what we do. Certainly they listen to what we say, but more often than not, they watch to see if we are living up to the things we say we are. As preppers, we choose to live a life that is right for us. The outside world may criticize and judge us, but if we hold fast to the commitment we have made in our lifestyle choice, that will be noticed. While they may not understand our motivations, they will certainly see that we remain true to our professed nature. In that sense, prepping is much like living the life of a Christian. Others may not understand what we believe, or why we believe it; they simply watch to see if we stay true to our word. Our actions speak louder than any words ever will. The important element for us to remember is that the outside world does not have to understand us. We simply have to understand ourselves and thoroughly live the life we have chosen, knowing it is in accordance with what God requires of us.

June 10th
1692 – Bridget Bishop became the first person hanged for witchcraft, during the ordeal known to history as the ‘Salem Witch Trials.’ In all, 20 people died before theological jurisprudence was restored in this isolated Puritan community in Massachusetts.
1850 – The American Bible Union was founded, organized by church leaders who had broken from the American and Foreign Bible Society.
1854 – Eventually to become the first African- American Roman Catholic bishop, James Augustine Healy, 24, was ordained a priest in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris.
1925 – The United Church of Canada was formed, uniting both the Methodist and Presbyterian denominations of Canada. The merger also took in 3,000 independent Canadian Congregational churches.
1983 – The Presbyterian Church (USA) was formed in Atlanta, through a reunification of the United Presbyterian Church (UPCUSA) and the Southern Presbyterian Church (PCUS).
