Department of Homeland Security (DHS) staffer Ayo Kimathi has been put on paid administrative leave after being accused of operating a hate group website and calling for a race war.
The Southern Poverty Law Center described the War Is On The Horizon website as being full of inflammatory slurs and calling for the mass murder of whites and “Uncle Tom race traitors.” Kimathi was reportedly in charge of buying weapons and ammunition for the government.
Kimathi called himself the “Irritated Genie,” and his DHS supervisor reportedly unearthed the website in early June. It remains unclear exactly how long the website calling for a race war had been online, but still-visible YouTube videos linked to the website and using the same name were posted at least a year ago. Kimathi works for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement division of DHS.
DHS drew massive backlash last year when it was revealed that the federal agency considered certain conservative groups a threat to national security. Yet the agency tasked with keeping all Americans safe was apparently unable – for more than a year — to detect a possible hate crime advocating in its own midst.
An excerpt from the now-removed War Is On The Horizon website reads:
“Warfare is eminent and in order for black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites – more than our Christian hearts can possibly count. Plan every act of vengeance, retaliation, protest, aggression, etc. … for the month of August knowing that the ancestors, and especially Prophet Nat, Boukman Dutty, and Jean-Jacques Dessalines, will be with you [as] you do your hunting. Preparing black people worldwide for an unavoidable, inevitable clash with the white race. Whites around the world are absolutely determined to exterminate African people in all corners of the Earth. As a result of this reality, WOH has dedicated our time and expertise to properly educating black people to prepare for racial warfare. This includes intellectual, spiritual, psychological, and physical preparation for a global clash that will mean the end of white rule on this planet or the end of the black race as we know it.”
The War Is On The Horizon website designated August as Nat Turner Month. Turner was a slave who led a rebellion in Virginia in 1831.
Due to the nature of his job, the man known as the Irritated Genie had to request permission to engage in outside activities. Kimathi’s supervisor said that if he had accurately described the nature of the website, it would not have been approved by DHS. He told them it was a website that would sell concert and lecture videos.
One of Ayo Kimathi’s former supervisors also stated that “everybody” in the office is afraid of him and fears that one day he will walk into the building with a gun and “go postal.”
“If he had adequately and truthfully described his group,” the supervisor said, “I can’t imagine for a minute he would have been granted permission.”
Racial tensions appear to be increasing among some in America, with the pot being stirred by all races. Craig Paul Cobb, a North Dakota resident who has been described as a white supremacist and Neo-Nazi, purchased nearly all the land in a small rural town to allegedly build a white nationalist community.
Regarding Kimathi, an official statement from DHS noted that claims of misconduct are always “investigated thoroughly.” If common sense prevails, it should not take long for an investigator to decide that calls for a race war and the mention of the president on an enemy’s list is cause for termination.
