The number of ridiculous arrests in America continues to grow. Among the offenses that can now land you in jail include having SpaghettiOs on your spoon, drinking iced tea in public, and smoking an e-cigarette.
Ashley Gabrielle Huff was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine because Gainesville, Georgia, police found a dirty spoon in the car July 2. Cops thought Huff was in possession of meth because there was a red substance on the spoon, and she spent more than a month in jail.
Lab tests later showed that the substance was SpaghettiOs, and a judge dismissed the charges against Huff after reading the lab report.
Huff was jailed and nearly pleaded guilty to a felony before she was cleared, her public defender, Chris van Rossem, told The Gainesville Times. Worst of all, the embarrassing incident could have been avoided if police had simply listened to Huff, who had no criminal record, nor history of drug use.
“I think she said it had been SpaghettiOs,” van Rossem said. “I think what the unfortunate part about her case is that she was probably willing to take the felony to close out her case so that she could get out of jail, even though she always maintained innocence.

He told KRON, “You just get worn out, your spirit gets worn down. You reach a point where you’ll do anything just to get out of jail.”
Man Arrested for Drinking Iced Tea?
Meanwhile, Christopher Lamont Beatty, who raps under the name Xstrav, was arrested for drinking iced tea in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After refusing to show the contents of the beverage to the officer, Beatty was wrestled to the ground in a parking lot and handcuffed. It was a “half and half” can of Arizona Iced Tea.
A video of the incident shows that Beatty clearly showed the officer the label on the can, and even read the ingredients of the tea to the officer. When a friend of Beatty took a video of the arrest, Libero threatened to arrest him as well.
Teen Arrested for Smoking Cigarette And Having Rifle in Car
Alexander Chier, 17, was arrested because he smoked an e-cigarette on school grounds. The principal at Pewaukee High School in Wisconsin called police after he caught Chier smoking it.
Police then searched Chier’s car, arrested him and charged him with weapons possession because they found a hunting rifle in the car, as well as hunting knives and 400 rounds of ammunition. Chier was planning to go target shooting. Reason.com reported that the school was enforcing its zero tolerance policy.
Arrested for Giving Change to Homeless
No good deed goes unpunished in Houston, where police handcuffed and detained Greg Snider because he gave a homeless man 75 cents in a parking lot while making a business call.
When he drove onto Interstate 10, Snider saw a police car with flashing lights directing him to pull him off. When he pulled over and got out of his vehicle, an officer arrested and handcuffed him as 10 more police cars pulled up. The officers thought they had witnessed a drug deal, and held Snider for an hour while drug sniffing dogs searched his car.
“They’re like, ‘We saw you downtown. We saw what you did,'” Snider told a Houston TV station. “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I gave a homeless man 75 cents.'”
After an hour, police admitted that the incident was a misunderstanding and let him go. Snider has filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department’s Internal Affairs department.
